Seamus McDonald was brought up in a tough household to a single father who would drink each minute of the day to block out his demons. Seamus' father was a youth amateur boxer who carried himself well and was a well-known name around town. Seamus always respected this and lived to emulate it when he was much younger, which his father knew and took pride in.

Jim McDonald, Seamus' father, was part of a local gang that kicked up to a man named Archie MacPherson, nicknamed the Godfather of Glasgow for his ruthlessness and organization of his rackets, who operated chains in several European countries like France. One day Jim took a swing at who he thought was a loud mouth calling his number at the local bar and got hit so hard that he fell over and broke his jaw off the bar counter, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. The man he hit was Archie's stepson, and when Archie heard of Jim's involvement, he took it upon himself to make an example of Jim's mistake and snapped Seamus' mother's neck in front of his father.
Fast forward 10 years and Seamus still had no idea what caused the death of his mother or the deterioration of his father, but he sought answers to what happened that night. Jim mustered up enough money to get Seamus a one-way ticket to Los Santos to start a life Jim could never provide him with when he was a young adult. Seamus, being surrounded with crime growing up, was wise to how things operate, but he also recognizes the horrible destruction it can cause to families like his and wants to stay clear of that past.
